Alicia Gonzales has over 20 years teaching experience in Espanola, Santa Fe,  and currently Pojoaque Valley Middle School, where she teaches math and Spanish and also works as an instructional coach. She has participated in the LANL Math and Science Academy, the Academy’s IrRational Number Institutes, and the Math Teacher Leader Network.  She has been part of the Alliance of Indigenous Math Circles and Bluebird Math Circles.  She has co-organized and co-facilitated the Julia Robinson Math Festival for Pojoaque Middle School and received the Rio Arriba County Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019. Her passion is showing math learners how to model and make sense with math by developing a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
