Judi Ewert was an active member of MathAmigos from 2018-2020, during which time she served as an instructor at MathAmigos’ teacher workshops and in-class teacher coach at Nina Otero Community School. Prior to retiring Judi was employed by Santa Fe Public Schools for 22 years — working at Acequia Madrid, Kearny, and Wood Gormley Elementary Schools. She also taught 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th graders in the Echo Program at both Capshaw and Ortiz Middle Schools. Judi graduated from University of Hawaii with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and a teacher certificate. At University of New Mexico, she graduated with a M.A. in Education. In addition to her teaching duties, Judi served on the SFPS Superintendent’s Committee for many years and was secretary to the NEA Union. During her career Judi taught many math workshops to teachers, as well as mediation to a variety of schools and students. In 1991 Judi won the Presidential Award in Mathematics for the State of New Mexico. Judi’s retirement from teaching (and most recently from MathAmigos) has enabled her to pursue her passion for painting, which she has done for 12 years. Judi’s paintings have been shown in many art shows in Santa Fe.
